Philip Randall Doucette, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted coach, passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home on Friday, May 26, 2023.

One of three children to the late Harold and Anamaria (Forcella) Doucette, Randy was born in Bangor, ME. He graduated from Plainville High School in 1966 where he met the love of his life, Carmela Lepore, and settled in Burlington where they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage and raised three loving children.

A lifelong athlete, he excelled in baseball and football at Plainville High School, and continued as a wrestler for Central Connecticut State University where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Physical Education. Affectionately known as “Coach,” he went on to impact countless lives as an educator for more than 40 years at Plainville High School, challenging his students and athletes to always “work hard and keep your head in the game” in every aspect of life. He coached several of his children's teams and was highly accomplished with the PHS swim team where he earned the CIAC Connecticut Boys Swimming Coach of the Year in 2009, and was later inducted into the Plainville High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. An avid sportsman, he played hockey, enjoyed backpacking and fishing, and spent his retirement years with his family, camping, boating, gardening, woodworking, cheering on his beloved Boston Bruins, and recently leading the pickleball program for the Bristol Parks & Rec department.

A lover of animals, Randy would take dog treats with him on walks so that he could feed them to all the neighborhood dogs he saw. His passion and spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, pets, and all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Carmela, he leaves his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Michelle Rawcliffe, her husband, Rob and their children RJ and Rita; Craig Doucette, his wife Erin and their daughter Josephine; and Rebecca Stefanczyk, her husband Karl, and their daughter Marina. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Doughty. He also leaves behind his brother, James Doucette and his wife Marianne and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, and because of Randy's love for animals, also to the Animal Rescue Foundation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St. Bristol, CT 06010.
