Leopold J. Nadeau, 80, of Southingto­n, beloved husband of Francine (Bilodeau) Nadeau, died on Saturday (October 28, 2023) at home. A devoted husband and father, Leo was born on November 8,1942 in La Guadeloupe, Quebec, Canada and was the youngest child of the late Abraham and Victoria (Roy) Nadeau. Raised in Canada, Leo served three years in the Canadian Army. Leo met his wife, Francine Bilodeau, in Quebec in 1964, when he was on leave from the Canadian Army. Leo and Francine were married two years later in 1966, and together they moved to the United States in 1969 where they resided in Bristol. He worked at Superior Electric in Bristol for 32 years, then Bristol Hospital until retiring. He then continued to work as a part time driver at Crowley Automotive. He was a parishione­r of St. Ann Church, Bristol, since 1969, where he was a member of the League of Sacred Heart and volunteere­d for Bingo. Leopold leaves his wife of 57 years, Francine; three children: Martin and his wife Jody, Etienne “Steve” and his wife Diane, Melissa (deceased) and husband David; four grandchild­ren: Paul Nadeau, Adam, Claudia, and Cole Kosko; two brothers: Noel and Antoine Nadeau of Quebec; brother-in-law: Patrick Bilodeau (deceased) and his wife Jeanine Boucher, brother-in-law: Jeanclaude Bilodeau (deceased); and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (November 3, 2023) at 10:30 AM at Saint Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave. Bristol, on Friday between 9 and 10 AM.
