Martin L. Sornborger passed away on October 25, 2023 in Bloomfield, CT with his family by his side. He was born in 1934, son of Lester and Florence Sornborger in Springfiel­d, MA. He was a graduate of Classical High School, Springfiel­d and Middlebury College 1955. He was an airborne air controller in the US Navy, flying off of aircraft carriers in the North Atlantic and Mediterran­ean Sea. He worked as a computer programmer at Brown University, Amica, Rico Machine Company and Attleboro City Hall, retiring in 1999. He was an avid fly fisherman and member of the Wantastiqu­et Trout Club in Vermont. As a woodworker in his retirement years, he designed and built secretary desks, jewelry boxes, tables, but his favorite specialty was building unusual and extravagan­t marble towers for children.

With his growing sons, he spent many days hiking and climbing in the White Mountains. He leaves three sons – David (Lisa) of Colorado, Andrew (Chris) of New Mexico, and Nathan (Donna) of Harwinton, CT., five grandchild­ren – Hope, Mariah, Myles, Marshall and Raphael, and one great-grandson – Noah. He leaves his wife of 65 years – Charlotte (Barton).

A memorial service will be held at St John's Episcopal Church, 191 County Rd. in Barrington, RI on Nov 17 and 11:00 AM, followed by a light reception.
