- By Justin Muszynski

Police are seeking information on a suspect believed to be involved in a homicide in Bloomfield on Monday and the vehicle he allegedly used.

The Bloomfield Police Department on Tuesday released photos of a 2014 or 2015 white Hyundai Tucson with a GLS trim package that they suspect was used in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Timothy Ross on Bloomfield Avenue.

Police also said the suspect in the shooting has been described as a tall male with a slim build in his early 20s. According to police, the suspect was seen getting back into the Hyundai after the shooting before fleeing south on Bloomfield Avenue.

Police believe the Hyundai, at the time of the shooting, possibly had a rear South Carolina registration plate of JDD955, though it did not have any plate on it when it was captured on camera in the area following the homicide.

The shooting was reported at 8:51 a.m. in the area of 590 Bloomfield Ave. where officers responded and found Ross suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken in an ambulance to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Authorities are continuing to seek witnesses in the shooting and anyone whose video surveillance may have captured something pertinent to the investigation.

The vehicle suspected to be involved may have been parked along Cottage Grove Road or Bloomfield Avenue or driven on those streets prior to the shooting, police said. Residents and business owners in this area have been encouraged to review surveillance footage taken in the morning hours on Monday to determine if it captured the vehicle.

Anyone with information on the suspect, the vehicle believed to be involved or those with surveillance video have been asked to contact the Bloomfield Police Department at 860-242-5501.
