It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Merrill, of Ellington, a beloved father, esteemed electrician, and cherished business owner. Paul departed this world on December 4, 2023, at the age of 75.

Paul's life was defined by a profound passion for his work and a love for the simple joys that brought him immense happiness. As an accomplished electrician, he dedicated his career to lighting up the lives of others, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working with him. Beyond his professional achievements, Paul was a devoted father to son Christopher.

Paul is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Groff; his son, Christopher Merrill; his daughter-in-law, Cara Ashnault and adored grandchildren, Leo and Nora. Paul is also survived by his stepdaughter, Jessica Moshka and his stepson, Michael Lorenz and their children Julia, Lila, Sadie and Devon. His family was his greatest joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be forever cherished.

Paul's love for boats, dogs, and the serene beauty of Center Pond in Becket, Massachusetts, was evident to all who knew him. Whether driving his Boston Whaler or Alumacraft on the water he loved or sharing the company of his faithful canine companion Tank, he found solace and joy in the relationships he made around the lake.

Calling hours will be Saturday, December 9, from 1pm to 3pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford.
