Mindell, David Lawrence

-

David Lawrence Mindell of Woodbridge, CT (and originally from West Hartford, CT) passed away on December 14, 2023 from complications of mantle cell lymphoma. He was the son of Robert and Barbara Mindell and was raised in West Hartford before attending Bentley University in Massachusetts. After college, he worked in Massachusetts and was introduced to his wife Amy by a camp friend and Amy's graduate school friend. They fell for each other fast and eventually settled in Woodbridge, CT where they lived so very happily for their 27-year marriage. David worked in sales throughout his career, but his proudest sales effort was working with his father as Co-president of Fine Distributing. David or “Mindy” was known for his crazy passion for his long-time YMCA Camp Woodstock brood, and his college friends, for his fierce commitment to theatrics of all kinds with the BJ Players and Temple Choir (Congregation B'nai Jacob in Woodbridge), for his unending love for his wife, Amy, and for his bursting pride for his son, Drew. David was predeceased by his father, Robert Mindell. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Mindell; his wife, Amy Rubin Mindell; his son, Drew Mindell (or, his playwriting name, D.A. Mindell); his sister, Joann (Mindell) Eicher; his twin sister, Susan Mindell (Katherine Wolf), his nieces and nephews and the many other grieving friends and family members. Oh, and his beloved dogs, Kiwi, Hickory, and Birdie.

The Funeral service will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Congregation B'nai Jacob, 75 Rimmon Rd., Woodbridge, CT. Interment will follow at B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Avenue, New Haven, CT. Shiva will take place on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday.
