Henrikson, Albert

-

Albert “Al” J. Henrikson, 74, of Bolton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on December 24, after a two year long battle with cancer. Al was born in Greenwich, Connecticut on January 21, 1949, son of the late Roy and Alice (Jensen) Henrikson of Stanford, Connecticut. Al was a gregarious and kind person, always willing to strike up a conversation or share a story with whomever he encountered. His sense of humor was truly remarkable and his laugh would emanate through the room. He was a proud chemical engineer until his retirement, having held both a bachelors and masters degree. He had a deep love for figuring out how things work, often recounting the story of how he built a laser at the age of 16. He loved to cook and in his later years dove into baking, taking classes a Manchester Community College to hone his skills. In fact, he baked cakes for both of his daughters' weddings. He loved animals, rescuing his cat Lucky from behind an apartment building in Myrtle Beach. Al loved his vehicles and was often found enjoying a NASCAR race on the weekend. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will deeply missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Christine (Makulis) Henrikson, his daughter Alicia Lee and husband Mathew Lee, his daughter Marissa Murray and husband Shawn Murray, his brother Larry Henrikson and wife Joyce Henrikson, sister Donna Conetta, nephew Larry-alan Henrikson, niece Ashley Henrikson, beloved granddaughters Emerson Lee and Ella Murray, and his rescue cat Lucky. A celebration of life service will be held on January 6th, 2024 at Holmes-watkins Funeral Home located at 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06040. Calling hours will be from 11am to 1pm with a memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you please make a donation to the Connecticut Humane Society in support of Al's love of animals.
