Scalzi Jr., Frederick A.

-

Frederick Anthony Scalzi, Jr., 56, of Kensington, Connecticut, loving husband of Kristie (Lambert) Scalzi for over 32 years, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Frederick Scalzi, Sr. and the late Sheila (Halko) Scalzi.

Fred had an extremely strong work ethic. Never one to sit idle, he was always working hard, but he loved it. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and father and loved his family immensely. He was a gentle soul with a quiet demeanor, but he had a great sense of humor. Never much of a traveler, he was happiest being at home where he created a backyard oasis to enjoy each summer with his family. There was nothing Fred wouldn't do for his family and he will forever be their hero. Gone way too soon, the void he leaves is immeasurable.

Along with his beloved wife, Kristie, Fred is survived by his two children, Anthony F. Scalzi and Amanda M. Scalzi. He also leaves his sister, Terri (Scalzi) Soohey (Bob) and his brother, Mark Scalzi (Stephanie); motherin-law, Ava Schmarr; two sisters-in-law, Kimberly Bengtson (Joe) and Kelly Lagace (Brian); nieces and nephews; Nicholas, Robert, Stephen, Julia, Alexander, Annabelle, and Ava; several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Kevin C. Bengtson, father-in-law, Gerald E. Lambert, and stepfather-in-law, Herman R. Schmarr, Jr.

Special thanks to his wonderful hospice nurses, Susan Haswell and Melanie Wilson.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fred's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. Please share a memory of Frederick with the family in the online guestbook at www.ericksonhansenberlin.com
