Doris Evelyn (Leclair) Giliberto, 85, of Newington, died peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family, on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Paul Giliberto. Born in New Britain, to the late Lucien and Yvonne (Dussault) Leclair, Doris was a longtime Newington resident and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and its Ladies Guild. She retired from Fafnir Bearing Co. and was a member of the Newington Senior & Disabled Center and TOPS. She was a regular walker and loved to cook. As a great baker and a talented crocheter, she loved to share her remarkable baked goodies, as well as her beautiful blankets, scarves, and hats with family and friends.

More than anything, she loved being surrounded by her family, and along with Paul, her husband of 66 years, she leaves four daughters and their spouses, Antonina and John Vaverchak of Wethersfie­ld, Paula and Lee Bowman, Lucy Giliberto and Dan Manchester, and Rosanne and Frank Santoro, all of Newington; and six grandchild­ren Michelle, Paul, Taylor, Kris, Nicole, and Michael; and four great grandchild­ren, Madison, Avery, Paul George and Ida. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, and was predecease­d by three brothers Roger, Raymond and Marcel Leclair.

Her funeral service will begin on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at 9:00 am at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newington Memorial.
