Rose P. Gomez, 91, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden. She was born August 26, 1932 in New Britain, CT, a daughter of the late Vincent and Constance (Pons) Ballester. Rose was a parishione­r of St. Matthew's Church in Bristol and retired as the comptrolle­r for Magson Uniform where she worked for 43 years. Rose was a devoted mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, sister, aunt and friend who loved to spend time with her family, visiting Disney, reading and shopping. Rose also loved a good game of set-back, Rummikub or LCR and often left the table as a “winner”.

Rose is survived by two daughters; Lisa Belote and her husband Steven of Meriden and Lori Nohilly-bullock and her husband Royal of Bristol. She also leaves behind five grandchild­ren ; Ryan (Skye) Belote, Matthew Belote, Emily (Tyler) Leneave, Joshua Nohilly and Trevor Nohilly, four great-grandchild­ren; Carter and Lucy Belote and Garrett and Tatum Leneave, a sister; Louise Freemont as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rose was a fighter and coined the phrase “small but mighty”. When someone needed help, she was there to lend a hand or give some sage advice. She taught her daughters to be strong, kind and independen­t. She will be remembered for teaching anyone who was willing to learn how to make an amazing “paella”. Rose will be missed by all her family and friends.

The family would love to thank the nursing and physician staff at Midstate Medical Center, Pavilion E for the amazing care she received in her final days. The compassion and love they showed to Rose was extraordin­ary and will not be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11am at St. Matthew Church 120 Church Ave., Bristol, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the New Britain Memorial-donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT on Tuesday (TODAY), January 9, 2024 from 5-8pm and Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 9-10am. Burial will be at the convenienc­e of the family.
