Ginger M. Vance, 77, of Sarasota, Florida passed away at home on Monday, December 4, 2023 after a lengthy illness. She was born on February 16, 1946 in New Castle, Pennsylvan­ia to the late Sylvan and Sue Markowitz. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arnold J. Vance.

Ginger graduated from New Castle High School in 1964 where she was a member the school's cheerleadi­ng squad. She graduated from Thiel College in 1968 with a BA in Psychology and from the University of Connecticu­t in 1973 with a BS in Physical Therapy. She was employed by the State of Connecticu­t for 25 years as a Physical Therapist treating patients from birth to three years of age.

Upon retirement in 2002 she and her husband moved to Sarasota, Florida. Ginger loved gardening and joined the Sarasota Garden club where she served a term as President. She also volunteere­d at the Ringling Museum where she was part of the team maintainin­g Mabel Ringling's Secret Garden.

Ginger was an avid animal lover and supporter. In addition to her own pets she volunteere­d at the Cat Depot to care for homeless cats.

Ginger loved to travel and she and her husband visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. A highlight was a tour to Antarctica for her 50th wedding anniversar­y to frolic with her beloved penguins.

There will be a service for Ginger at the Saint Jude Catholic Church, 3930 17th St, Sarasota, FL 34235. The Mass is at 10:00 on Tuesday, January 23. She will be interred in St. Jude's memory garden.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held at 12:00 noon following Mass. We will meet at the Grove Restaurant, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202. Memorials may be given to your favorite local animal charity such as a Humane Society.
