Slaiby, Theodore G.
Theodore G. Slaiby, 94, beloved husband of 61 years of the late Margaret (Sullivan) Slaiby passed away at his home in Manchester on Thursday, January 25th, 2024. Ted was the son of the late George and Afifi (Buzaid) Slaiby, both Lebanese immigrants. He was born and raised on a dairy farm in Washington, CT, and maintained a lifelong passion for farming.
His second passion was aviation. A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Theodore was employed with Pratt and Whitney from 1950 to 1987, where he reached the position of Vice President of Commercial Engineering. He continued as an Engineering Consultant for United Technologies until his retirement.
He returned to his roots on his small farm in Coventry, CT where he cut hay and maintained an all too extensive garden well into his late 80's.
He leaves behind his children Peter Slaiby and his wife Rejani of Houston, TX, Dr. Jeffrey Slaiby and his wife Marisa of E. Greenwich, RI, and Barbara Slaiby and her husband Nelson Carter of Lebanon, NH; grandchildren Theodore "Teddy" Slaiby, Donna Slaiby, Hannah Slaiby, Samuel Slaiby, Benjamin Thanh Carter and Wren Carter; his sister Lorraine Levesque; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Jennie Assard, Edward Slaiby, Josephine Asmar, and Morris Slaiby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 31st, at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 896 Main Street in Manchester. Burial will be held in St. James Cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
