Bolton, CT. Robert W. Peterson, 87, of Bolton passed away peacefully of amyloidosi­s on February 11, 2024 at Windham Hospital. Bob was born in Manchester, CT on July 15, 1936 the son of Clarence and Florence Peterson. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Catherine Hadden “Kay” Peterson. Bob was raised in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1954. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served both stateside and in Morrocco. Upon returning from Morrocco, Bob was stationed at Westover Air Force Base in Massachuse­tts where he met Kay who was also serving in the Air Force. They married on April 12, 1958 and were married for 65 years. Following his military service, he entered the Connecticu­t State Police Academy and became a State Trooper. Bob served as the Resident State Trooper in Bolton for the majority of his 20-year career. He retired from the State Police in 1983 as a Trooper First Class. After retirement from the State Police, he worked for Purdy Corporatio­n, Aerex Corporatio­n, and Monaco Ford. He was an active member and Life Deacon of the Bolton Congregati­onal Church and enjoyed being part of the congregati­on. Bob was a Mason belonging to both the Manchester and Colchester Masonic Lodges. Bob was active member for many years in the Bolton Lions Club and also served on the Bolton Zoning Board of Appeals. He is fondly remembered as “such a nice guy” by most everyone he met – something that was especially important to him. Bob's family was always the most important thing in his life. He was happiest when the entire family was together, often stating during gatherings that “it doesn't get any better than this.” In addition to his wife Kay, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Robert T. Peterson, and his wife Atty. Donna Peterson of Doverfoxcr­oft, Maine, and Jeffrey Peterson and his wife, Sharon Peterson of Litchfield, CT. He is survived by four grandchild­ren, Maine State Trooper Andrew Peterson and his fiancé Taylor Morris, Erica Dale and her husband Jeff Dale, Rhiann Peterson, and her partner Bronson Ramirez, and Sara Foley and her husband Sean Foley. Bob is also survived by four great grandchild­ren, Laureli Peterson, Felix Dale, Kenneth Peterson, and Leo Dale. He is also survived by cousins Barbara Goff and her husband Roy, Sandra Hedstrom and her husband Bruce, and Nancy Cramer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Bolton Congregati­onal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bolton Congregati­onal Church or the Bolton Scholarshi­p Fund, Inc. Services are handled by the Holmes Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT.
