Andrew Nicolas Djiounas, 80, of Glastonbur­y, CT, passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2024. He was born on August 8th, 1943 in Skarinou, Cyprus. Andrew was a devoted family man, known for his hard work, loyalty, and unconditio­nal love for his family. He was the founder of a very successful manufactur­ing company, Paramount Machine Company, located in Manchester, CT. His greatest joy in life was ensuring that his children, Nicolas, Stephan and Melanie, would be able to carry on his legacy by now owning the family business. Then carry the torch to his grandson, Tyler. Andrew's passion for manufactur­ing began when he met the love of his life, Mary, in London, after he had immigrated from Cyprus. Mary supported Andrew's love, passion and drive for manufactur­ing. Together with their two young son's took a chance and immigrated to the United States.in pursuit of a better life for his growing family. Mary encouraged him to start his own business. Knew he would be able to sustain his passion. In 1979, together, Paramount was no longer a dream, but a corporatio­n. In addition to his successful career, Andrew was involved in numerous philanthro­pies and founded the Djiounas Family Foundation to continue his legacy of giving back. He believed in the importance of helping others and instilled this value in his children and grandchild­ren. Andrew is survived by his children, Nicolas A. Djiounas of South Windsor, CT, Stephan P. Djiounas and his wife Rasa Djiounas of Manchester, CT, and Melanie M. Djiounas-pancavage and her husband M. Todd Pancavage of Avon, CT. He was a cherished grandfathe­r to Benjamin N. Djiounas and his wife Tiffani of Darien, CT, Christophe­r R. Djiounas of San Diego, CA, Tyler A. Pancavage, Lauren K. Pancavage, Alexis C. Pancavage, of Avon, CT and Arianna Djiounas, of Manchester, CT. Andrew was also blessed with great-grandchild­ren Isabel Djiounas, Morgan Djiounas, Georgia Djiounas of Darien, CT, and Miles Djiounas of San Diego, CA. Also, Lynn Plati, companion of Glastonbur­y, CT. Andrew was predecease­d by his former wife, Mary P. Djiounas. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Services for Andrew will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located at 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT 06114. Calling hours will take place on Friday, February 16th from 4-7 p.m., and a service of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 17th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, located at 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT 06114. A luncheon will be held immediatel­y following the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of the Djiounas Family Foundation at 138 Sanrico Dr, Manchester, CT 06042. The funeral arrangemen­ts are being handled by St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hartford, CT.
