(Alfano) Chiger, Elizabeth "Betty"

Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Alfano) Chiger, 91, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, February 16, 2024. Born October 26, 1932, in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Dominic Alfano and Jane (Labieniec) Parsons. She will be forever loved and missed by her loving husband of 70 years, Leonard Chiger, her daughters, Debra (Gregory) Mccusker of Rocky Hill, CT and Kathleen (Peter) O'brien of Westport Island, ME; her son, David (Deborah O'connell) Chiger of Melbourne, FL; her sister, Sharon (Robert) Mercaldi of Rocky Hill, C; her sisterin-law, Georgette Alfano of Hebron, CT. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Kevin Mccusker (Sarah Baldwin), Garrett Chiger and Kathryn (Jason) Griffin; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Betty ran Parsons Catering Service with her late brothers Richard and Robert Alfano. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, traveling, bowling and spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Betty's family on Wednesday, February 21st, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. Her funeral service will begin on Thursday, February 22nd, at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, New Britain.
