As fuel prices continue to create the new normal, manufacturers continue to come up with new ways to roll out vehicles to keep up with the competition.

In Chevrolet’s mind, they roll out a new 2024 Colorado which boasts a new overall look.

Our tester was a ZR2, which is a great truck for the off-roaders looking for fun while maintaining an everyday price.

Powering the 2024 Colorado fleet is the popular and proven 2.7L Turbo High-output with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This paired with the 8-speed automatic transmission makes Colorado trim level very potent.

Our 4WD ZR2 Crew Cab, wrapped in Sterling Grey Metallic, was really appealing to the naked eye and did an outstanding job with its correct rideheight stance and aggressive front fascia’s. The ZR2 package offered an array of upgrades to suspension, rocker panel protection and accessory storage while a tailgate stow flex storage compartment was also a nice addition.

On the interior, our ZR2 4WD came with a ZR2 Convenience Package on our week-long tester, which included heated steering wheel, memory seats and some safety upgrades.

Our tester also included a $1,000 sunroof option and a $950 Technology package.

Chevrolet historically has had an uphill battle trying to keep up with the competition as the company’s vehicles are designed to be priced right, basic and entry level, with the upgradeable options in their own fleet.

Alternatives exist such as GMC for upscale trucks, Cadillac for upscale and powerful sedans.

But since the elimination of Pontiac and Buick, there are gaps for price and comfort.

The Colorado is no different, it serves a lot of purposes depending on pricing and utilization and is certainly a hit, but one that continues to chase the Ranger, Frontier and Tacoma in comparison.

The ZR2 is really a great option with its increased ride height and comfort but, like everything else, that comes with an increased price.

Has anyone priced a Jeep Wrangler recently? Yikes!
