Berneski, Isabel
Isabel Berneski, age 76, beloved wife of Joseph Berneski of 57 years, passed away peacefully in the comforts of her home on February 25, 2024 surrounded by her family at her side. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she is the daughter of Maria Dorego and the late Antonio Dorego of Wethersfield. Besides leaving behind her devoted husband Joseph and mother Maria, she is survived by her Daughter Michele Clemens and husband Curt of Rocky Hill, her son, Joseph A. Berneski and wife Danielle of Wethersfield, and her most precious gifts, her grandchildren Brent and Jordan Clemens and Noah Berneski whom she loved so deeply and was so very proud of. She also leaves behind her loving sister and best friend Marie Peltier and late brother-in-law John of Hartford, as well as her brother Joe Dorego and wife Jane of Florida, along with several nieces and nephews. Isabel was raised in Hartford and Wethersfield, graduating from Wethersfield High School in 1965. Isabel worked at West Hill Elementary School as a Paraprofessional assisting disabled children in the classroom when her children were of young age and was also employed in the Insurance Industry for 28 years. Isabel lived a true love story alongside her husband Joe, which started with Joe setting his eyes on Isabel for the very first time while walking home one day and knowing at that very moment, as he shared with his friend Kevin aloud, “I am going to marry that girl”, her beauty captivating him instantaneously that day through to the day that Isabel’s soul left his side to be with the Lord. Isabel had a true passion for traveling yearly with her husband to various destinations, especially taking cruises to the Caribbean and spending time down in Myrtle Beach. Isabel will be remembered and was most proud of being a mother, always caring so deeply to ensure her two children were surrounded by the warmth of her love, the strength in her spiritual faith, her delicious homemade dinners at the family table, and supporting her children’s talents and future dreams. Her nurturing ways and boundless love continued as she loved to spend time with her grandchildren spoiling them to no end. Her vibrant personality shined to the very end, as she continued to reassure her family she would be ok by her comforting words and natural wit. She will be so loved and missed by all the lives she so tenderly touched. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday March 3rd from 2-4pm at the Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St. Rocky Hill. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday March 4th at 10am in St. Josephine Bakhita Church, St. James Campus, 767 Elm St. Rocky Hill, followed by procession to Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
