Frank Ricciardon­e, 83, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Assunta (D’elia) Ricciardon­e, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 29, 2024, surrounded by his family. Frank was born in Teggiano, Salerno, Italy on July 16, 1940, son of the late Demetrio and Amabile (Zozzaro) Ricciardon­e. In 1955, he immigrated to the U.S., settling in Hartford, CT, with his family as a teenager. Frank married the love of his life, Assunta D’elia, on July 27, 1961, and they began their life together in Hartford, soon thereafter moving to East Hartford and then West Hartford. Frank owned and operated the Acadia Restaurant in Manchester for over 30 years. With his son Demetrio, he later opened and operated Teggiano Restaurant in Willington for seven years before retiring. He enjoyed bocce, bowling, racquetbal­l, tennis, and late-night card games with family and friends. Around the house, he loved cooking for family, tending to his garden and fussing over the swimming pool, all while maintainin­g a quick wit and sense of humor. Frank cherished the time he spent in Florida and loved to travel back home to Italy. A kind, caring, loving, and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfathe­r, and friend to many, he will be dearly missed. Along with his wife, Assunta of South Windsor, he leaves his four children, Demetrio Ricciardon­e and his wife Stacy, Lina R. Storm, Salvatore Ricciardon­e and his wife Tamara, and Maria Ricciardon­e; his brother, Giuseppe Ricciardon­e; 11 grandchild­ren, including Brianna, Cassidy, Arden, Emerson, Francesco, Anna, Gabriella, Frank, Jonas, Logan, and Rex; and his sistersin-law, Filomena Manzione, Michelina Manzione, and Concetta Cimino. He was predecease­d by his siblings, Giovanni Ricciardon­e, Carmine Ricciardon­e, Michele Ricciardon­e, Pasquale Ricciardon­e, and Giacomina Ragone. His family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 4-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 10 a.m., meeting directly at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
