Trinity men advance to Division III Sweet 16

The Trinity men’s basketball is on its way to the Division III Sweet 16 for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

The Bantams, led by 17 points each from Henry Vetter and Ben Callahan-gold, cruised to an 83-74 win over Swarthmore to advance. Trinity, the No. 3 team in the nation and host of the four-team Hartford regional, had defeated Utica 83-54 in the opening game on Friday and will play NESCAC-RIVAL Tufts in a thirdround game on Friday.

Dana Smith added 13 points for the Bantams (28-1) and Sean Macarchuk added 10. Trinity easily won the two regular-season meetings vs. Tufts: 82-66 on the road and 80-68 at home.

Randolph-macon 75, Saint Joseph 64:

At Ashland, Va., the Yellow Jackets raced out to an 11-point lead at the half and rolled to the Division III tournament second-round win.

Friedrich Feldrappe scored a game-high 24 points and added seven rebounds for the 24th-ranked Blue Jays (25-5), and Jalen Samuels added 12 points and nine rebounds.

Randolph-macon, the host school and No. 4 team in the nation, was led by Keishawn Polley’s 23 points and seven assists. Theo Antinori came off the bench with 13 points for the winners (25-4).

Danny Wolf scored 16 points as Yale beat Harvard 80-60 on Saturday night to stay tied with Princeton atop the Ivy League standings.

Wolf added 10 rebounds and five assists for the Bulldogs (20-8, 11-2/ Ivy). Nick Townsend finished 6 of 7 from the field to add 14 points. John Poulakidas shot 5 for 11, including 2 for 6 from beyond the arc to finish with 12 points, while adding six rebounds.

Cornell (21-6, 10-3) lost at Princeton, 79-77, to fall a game back in the standings with one game to go in the regular season.

Yale next plays Saturday against Brown at home, while Cornell travels to Columbia and Princeton travels to Penn.

The Ivy League tournament is scheduled for March 16-17 at Levien Gymnasium in New York.

Yale 80, Harvard 60:

Matt Balanc led the way with 26 points and Amarri Tice added 19 and 6 rebounds as Quinnipiac outclassed Siena in Hamden on Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats (21-8, 13-5/ MAAC) moved back atop the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings with the win. Quinnipiac holds a one-game lead over Fairfield and St. Peter’s with two games left in the regular season. The Bobcats will host Marist on Mar. 7 before traveling to St. Peter’s on Mar. 9. The MAAC tournament begins Mar. 12.

Quinnipiac 71, Siena 57:
