Carolyn Lorenson died peacefully on February 27, 2024, at Covenant Living of Cromwell at the age of 96.

She was born on December 10, 1927, in Providence, RI. She was raised in the Washington Park area of Providence. Her childhood home on Farragut Avenue led right into Roger Williams Park where many happy hours were spent at the zoo, on the carousel, sledding, skating, and in the company of dear family and friends. Summers were spent in Barrington, RI on the beach at Hampton Meadows, a time she treasured.

She graduated from Hope High School and Edgewood Business School in Providence.

On September 24, 1949, she married Frederick Lorenson at the Covenant Congregati­onal Church in Providence and they began a new life together in Naugatuck, CT. She and Fred were 50-year members of the Hillside Covenant Church in Naugatuck.

She was a choir member and dedicated member of the diaconate in her care for others in the church. She loved travel, family vacations, reunions, and birthday celebratio­ns with her large extended family. Once her family was grown she returned to work as the Office Manager at the Public Health Nursing Service in Naugatuck. Her secretaria­l training and organizati­onal skills were put to good use as a homemaker, a faithful church member, organizing family events and weddings, supporting her husband's business ventures and Masonic activities.

In 2002 she and Fred moved to Covenant Living and immersed themselves in the life and activities of their new community. She was a welcoming presence to new residents and even as her years caught up with her maintained her gracious presence with dear friends. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sheryl and Bill Stone, Keith and Debby Lorenson and Nancy and Jeff Cook; her grandchild­ren, Caitlin Stone, Jeremy and Erin Stone, Chelsea Cook and Jon Decarlo, Elizabeth and Kevin Golebieski and Chad and Lianna Cook and her beloved great-grandchild­ren, Madeleine and Annabelle Stone, Monica Reichstein, Owen and Aislinn Decarlo, Ethan Golebieski and Cassian Cook. She is also survived by her dear cousin Joan Chirnside, in-laws, Ed and Laura Lorenson and Edith Judd as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends at Covenant Living. Carolyn was pre-deceased by her parents, Hulda and Carl Darelius, her husband, Frederick Lorenson, her sisters, Regina Villaume and Eleanor Mccallum and her brothers, Charles, Roderick, and Conrad Darelius. Arrangemen­ts – A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2023, at Covenant Living of Cromwell in the Event Center, 101 West St., Cromwell at 1 pm. Burial will be held at the convenienc­e of the family in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangemen­ts.
