Tomlinson shuns Swift comparison

-

Taylor Tomlinson, the newest late-night comedy star, can’t seem to put her finger on recent comments comparing her to Taylor Swift.

“I don’t know who’s doing that. There’s a couple of comments on Instagram. I’m not doing that,” the “After Midnight” host said. “I would never compare myself to Taylor Swift. I am garbage compared to her.”

Tomlinson, 30, made a splash in the male-dominated late-night TV landscape when her show debuted Jan. 16 — fresh on the heels of her Have It All Tour being recognized as one of Billboard Boxscore’s top 10 highest grossing comedy tours of 2023.

Meanwhile, Swift — also blond and in her 30s — continues to set records with her international Eras Tour.

Also like Swift, ex-lovers frequently end up becoming subjects of Tomlinson’s work. But according to the comedian, that comes with the territory — at least as far as she’s concerned.

“Anybody who dates a comedian has to go in knowing that,” she said. “I dated comedians, and I went in knowing that . ... I know why comedians date each other because we both know the deal.

But a person who’s not in this business, it must be very scary. It’d be like, ‘Oh, we’re just kind of on the record all the time.’ ”

But ultimately, Tomlinson simply attributes the comparisons between her and Swift having the same first name.

“That’s very sweet,” Tomlinson said, while adding, “I think it’s mostly the name.”

‘Dune’ delivers at box office:

Movie theaters were looking for a savior, and “Dune: Part Two” is delivering on the promise. Internationally, it earned $97 million, bringing its global debut to $178.5 million.

“Denis made a really extraordinary and special film, and it’s been really exciting to see people respond,” said Mary Parent, a producer on both “Dune” films and chair of worldwide production at Legendary. “It was made for the big screen, and it feels like it’s being received as a cinematic event.”
