Taylor S. Cox, 36, of Cromwell, CT passed away suddenly following a long and devastating battle with mental health and addiction. We know he is now resting peacefully, free from all his pain.
We remember with fondness his life prior to the disease, taking control of his mind, body, and soul. He was so full of love and kindness; a strong, hardworking, and proud family man with the brightest smile and biggest heart.
Taylor was born in Middletown, CT to Karen (Baer) and Gary A. Cox. He graduated from Cromwell High School in 2005 where he excelled at football, was a founding member of the first CHS football team and was named All State. He went on to play football at Western CT State University before enlisting and serving in the Army. Taylor took immense pride in serving his country within the ranks of the esteemed 101st Screaming Eagles of the US Army. His military journey included successfully enduring the rigorous Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) course, a testament to the Army's challenging selection standards. Those familiar with Taylor can attest that this achievement speaks volumes about his unwavering character, exceptional drive, and resolute determination. Following his active military service and honorable discharge, he had a successful career in car sales. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his kids, running and working out. He always took pride in his health and fitness. He was a God fearing man and leaned on his faith to get him through life.
He was the adoring father of two daughters, Faith and Nevaeh Cox of Glastonbury, CT. He is also survived by his mother Karen Baer and stepfather, David Baer of Portland, CT; siblings Jamie Cox of Middletown, CT, Lyndsey Cox of Cromwell, CT, and Ryan Cox of AL; nieces and nephews Matthew Cox, Chloe Cox, Cooper Cox, Kyla Burgess, and Quinn Burgess. Along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Taylor was predeceased by his father, Gary Cox, grandparents Beatrice and Ernest Geiser and Lucille Tuchitto. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 11th at 10:30 am at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Burial will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, we encourage contributions to Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR). Our family further requests that you extend a gesture of kindness towards someone battling addiction in their life.
