Walter J. Dillon, Jr., 73, of Plantsvill­e passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born in 1950 to Walter Sr. and Margaret (Stewart) Dillon and grew up in Southingto­n. He graduated from Southingto­n High School in 1968 and from Providence College in 1972. Wally was a kind, generous, and compassion­ate man who had a positive impact on everyone

Wally is survived by his devoted wife, Maura (Gannon). In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Neal and wife Caitlin of Nashville, TN; his daughter, Courtney and fiancé Chris Sprague of Hartford; his daughter, Kathleen and husband John Sklepinski of Newington; his four grandchild­ren, Ronan, Brennan, Macaire, and Kiera Dillon; his sister Nancy Leblanc and husband Denis, of Southingto­n; and his niece, nephews, sister-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

Wally was happily married to Maura for over 40 years. He was a selfless husband who always put his family first. Wally and Maura raised three children and loved spending time together. They enjoyed their vacation home in Vermont and traveling, especially to Ireland. They loved entertaini­ng friends and family and exploring new restaurant­s together.

Wally was a loving and involved father in all aspects of his children's lives. He loved to coach his kids' sports teams, attend all of their school activities, and take them to sporting events and concerts. As they grew older, he was always around or a phone call away for anything they needed. Wally loved being a grandfathe­r, or “Geika”, as the kids called him, and had an incredible impact on their lives.

Wally was the owner of G&L Water Works Supply Corp. along with his business partner and brother-in-law, Stanley Cop, Jr. He worked at G&L for 40 years and met many of his closest friends through work. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Boston Red Sox and Providence College Friars. He was very active throughout his life and enjoyed running and playing softball. He loved reading, learning about history, and visiting historical sites.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial, which will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt Street, Plantsvill­e.
