Jessie Schultz Sjoblad, age 100, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024 with family by her side. Born in Hartford, CT on March 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Annie Fiala Schultz. She was married to the late Carl Frederick Sjoblad for 57 years. Jessie graduated from East Hartford High School in the class of 1940. She worked at Connecticu­t Mutual Life Insurance Company and Pratt and Whitney during the war years. She and Carl raised their family in East Hampton, CT. She leaves her daughter Lynda Allen and husband Gordon of Wilbraham, MA and her son Steve Sjoblad and wife Rita of Glastonbur­y. She also leaves her joyful and caring grandchild­ren Nathan Allen and wife Alice and great grandchild­ren Thomas, James and Emily of New Orleans, LA; and Heidi Maserati and husband Michael and great grandchild­ren Olivia, Elizabeth, Caroline and Madeline of Wilbraham, MA. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and cousins. Jessie was predecease­d by her brothers Edward Schultz and Harry Schultz both of Glastonbur­y. Jessie had many caring and loving friends and associates, especially her special friends in her bridge club of many years. She retired from Middlesex Memorial Hospital after 28 years and went on to volunteer for many years. She received the Presidenti­al Letter and pin for her many hours of service. She was a communican­t of St. Patrick Church and a charter member of the St. Patrick Guild being very active in church activities. Many will remember her as the Jewelry Lady at the annual church bazaars. A friend of the East Hampton Library and member of the former East Hampton Homemakers Club, she was also a member of the East Hampton Seniors and always enjoyed their many activities and programs. She enjoyed traveling with Carl, reading, playing bridge, attending high school concerts and plays and spending time with her family. She especially loved working in her gardens and enjoying their beauty. In 2020 Jessie left her home in East Hampton after 75 years and moved to the Arbors of Hop Brook in Manchester, CT. where the community of residents and staff added her to their extended family. Jessie’s final months were spent at Manchester Rehab and Healthcare Center where she was cared for with dignity and respect. Jessie will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmothe­r whose family made her life beautiful and complete. “One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Tuesday March 19th, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM, followed by burial in Lake View Cemetery.
