House fire sends 1 to hospital

As the trooper caught up to the GMC, Secore abruptly turned into a residential driveway and got out of the vehicle despite being told to remain in the pickup, state police said. Believing he was about to flee, state police immediately took him into custody.
According to state police, Secore later allegedly admitted he was aware that the trooper was about to initiate a traffic stop and that he accelerated and entered a driveway in an attempt to elude police.
Secore has been released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Manchester Superior Court on April 12.
One person was taken to the hospital following a house fire in Cromwell on Sunday.
Firefighters just after 12:30 p.m. responded to a home at 681 Main St. upon receiving multiple calls about smoke coming from the residence and were on the scene in less than five minutes, finding smoke pushing out from the front, side and back of the house, according to the Cromwell Fire Department.
Fire crews worked simultaneously to search the home while others established a water supply to put out the blaze, fire officials said. Crews on duty were assisted by volunteers and mutual aid from area fire departments.
According to fire officials, one person was in the home during the fire and was taken to an area hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Cromwell Fire Marshal.
