Judith Francis Rival, known to her loved ones as Judy, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on March 11, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. She was born on June 28, 1954, in East Hartford, CT. Judy was a devoted mother, grandmothe­r, sister, aunt, and friend. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchild­ren; finding joy in their presence. Judy's gentle spirit and nurturing presence were a solace to all. Her love for the Lord was resolute and reflected in her every action, providing strength and comfort to those around her. She found peace in the tranquilit­y of her garden, the pages of a good book, and the gentle presence of beloved dogs.

The legacy of Judy's love for the wonders of creation could be seen through her appreciati­on for the serene beauty of the beach, the simple joy of camping, and the humble act of tending to her plants. She came to know the virtues of patience and detail through her love of puzzles, while her interest in crime television series echoed her wish for justice in the world, her life was a living sermon of gratitude and respect for all of God's blessings. In her younger years a good game of Tennis was her favorite sport.judy dedicated many years as a stay-at-home mother, fostering a warm and loving home environmen­t for her family. She later contribute­d her gifts and talents in creativity to Copleys Uniforms through embroidery.

Left to honor Judy's enduring spirit are her children: Robert Godfrey, of CT; Wenzel and Natasha Walker, of CT; Heather Allison, of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Michael Allison, of Pensacola, FL. Her legacy will also live on through her treasured grandchild­ren: Anthony Dinapoli, Cody Godfrey, Jeremy and Aryanna Bryant, Savannah and Sierra Walker, Jazmyn, Jayla, Nevaeh, and Michael Allison. Judy’s loving siblings, Jack and Lynn Rival, Beth Rival, Bonnie Rival, Sharon Fitzgerald, and Tom and Sally Crickmore survive her. She now joins in glory her parents, John G. Rival and Francis (Thompson) Rival.

The family invites those who were touched by Judy's life to honor her memory at a Celebratio­n of Life ceremony to be held at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT 06108, on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 3-6pm, all are welcome to attend.

To honor Judy's compassion­ate and charitable spirit, contributi­ons may be directed to the East Hartford Fire Department, 31 School Street, East Hartford, CT 06108, where her father John G. Rival worked for 32 years, retiring as Deputy Fire Chief in 1979, in recognitio­n of their heartfelt, compassion­ate, service and care.

May Judith Francis Rival be forever remembered for her gracious heart, her gentle soul, and her steadfast faith. As we commend her to the Lord's tender embrace, we give thanks for the blessing she was in our lives. Rest in peace, dear Judy, until we meet again in the Kingdom of Heaven.
