Helen M. (Zajac) Locks, 91, of Southingto­n, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Southingto­n Care Center. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond S. Locks for 62 years. Helen was born on August 27, 1932 in Southingto­n to the late Matthew and Anna (Uliasz) Zajac and had been lifelong Southingto­n resident. Helen retired from Gibbs Wire & Steel where she worked as an Assistant Purchasing Agent for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church in Plantsvill­e and was active in many organizati­ons, including The Orchard Valley Garden Club, The Hummell Club, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Unit 72, Southingto­n Housing Authority Committee, AARP and the Ladies Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, where she served as President for over 20 years. Helen loved watching sports and rooting for her favorite teams, the Hartford Whalers and UCONN Women’s Basketball. She also enjoyed traveling all over the world and was proud to say she had the opportunit­y to visit all 50 states. Her last trip to Iceland with her daughter Susan is one that will be treasured always. Helen is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Locks and Linda Aube of Southingto­n, many dear friends from her setback and bowling leagues and the extended Albrycht family. In addition to her husband Ray, Helen was predecease­d by her sister, Stella Zajac and brother, Walter “Archie” Zajac. Helen’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Southingto­n Care Center for their compassion and the excellent care they provided to Helen in her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Ladies Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, 200 Summer St., Plantsvill­e, CT 06479 or to the Orchard Valley Garden Club, 54 Amato Circle, Southingto­n, CT 06489. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Plantsvill­e Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsvill­e, with a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 200 Summer St., Plantsvill­e. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Plantsvill­e. Calling hours will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Plantsvill­e Funeral Home.
