Miner, David Weldon

-

David Weldon Miner, born on August 21, 1946, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31st. He was the cherished son of Francis Weldon Miner and Margaret Macksey Miner, and he grew up in Bolton, Connecticut.

David's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife of 52 years, Mary Devanney Miner, whom he married on December 11, 1971. Together, they shared a bond that exemplified love, commitment, and unwavering support. David was a loving and dedicated father to his four sons: Michael, Matthew, Mark, and Andrew Miner, who brought immense joy and pride into his life as did their wives: Lisa Serrambana, Katelyn Lindstrom, Heather Kennedy, and Jillian Hoyt Miner.

David's memory will forever be cherished by his grandsons: Luke, Rylan, and Jack Miner; and his granddaughters: Cassidy, Katherine, Carolyn, Audrey, Margaret and Clare Miner. He was also a beloved brother to Susan Lyons and her husband, David; Sara Slitt and her husband, Wayne; Deborah Miner, and his predeceased sister, Anne Zern. Additionally, David leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Throughout his life, David touched the lives of many as the owner and operator of Highland Park Market in Coventry, Connecticut. His dedication and hard work were evident in every aspect of his business. When talking to employees and customers he always ended conversations with his signature phrase, "God Bless America."

A proud alumnus of John Carroll University and the University of Connecticut, David also bravely served his country as a Second Lieutenant in the First Air Cavalry Division of the Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the bronze star.

David found joy in spending quality time with his family, especially on vacations to the beaches of Rhode Island and Connecticut, as well as exploring the beauty of Vermont in all seasons.

Affectionately known as "Papa" to his grandchildren, David had a special talent for storytelling. His animated retelling of "Jack and the Beanstalk," complete with hearty renditions of "Fee Fi Fo Fum," will be forever etched in their memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in David's memory.
