Riccio, Leone Anthony

Leone Anthony Riccio, 83, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Judith (Kozakiewicz) Riccio for 53 years. He was born and raised in Hartford, son of the late Rocco and Theresa (Donati) Riccio where he graduated from Hartford Public High School. Leo spent 35 years working as a crew leader for the CT Department of Transportation highway maintenance division until his retirement in 1996. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard as a military police officer from 1961 to 1965. Leo was a man with a big heart and could light up a room with his smile. Family time was precious to him, he opened his home to all, especially during the holidays. Leo most loved watching his grandchildren grow and supporting their interests. An avid reader, he immersed himself in four newspapers daily, alongside his deep passion for history, movies, and sports. He was a dedicated fan of the New York Yankees and the Uconn women's and men's basketball teams. Along with his wife, he leaves his daughter Annmarie Morrison and her husband Kevin of Yonkers, New York, his son Andrew Riccio and wife his Keirsten of East Haddam, and his three grandchildren Maya Morrison, Patience Riccio and August Riccio.

Leo is survived by his brother Peter and sister-inlaw Margaret Riccio of Bristol, sister-in-law Carol Skonieczny of New Britain, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Williston of East Greenwich, Rhode Island. He also leaves behind a niece and many nephews, as well as many other cherished relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain. He will be laid to rest following the mass in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the name of Leo to the Sacred Heart Church Organ Fund.
