Lucia (Iannone) Lorusso, 87, of Wethersfie­ld, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024 and is now happily reunited with her beloved husband of 55 years, the late Umberto Lorusso (Donato). Born in Bari, Italy on March 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Umberto and Giacoma (Debenedict­is) Iannone. Lucia came to the U.S. in 1974 she and Umberto settled in Wethersfie­ld to raise their family. She worked in the cafeteria at Trinity College for many years.

A loving mother and grandmothe­r, Lucia will be forever missed by her three children, Michael Lorusso and wife Fatima of Newington, Nick Lorusso and wife Eva of Chelsea, AL, and Maria Garzone and husband Peter of Rocky Hill and 10 adored grandchild­ren. She is also survived by her brother, Franco Iannone and his wife Grazia of Floridia, Sicily; one sister, Emma Bisesto of Bari, Italy; three sisters-in-law, Rosa, Anna, and Gail, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, Lucia was predecease­d by her siblings, Andrea Iannone, Anthony “Tony” Iannone, Concetta “Tina” Kula, Maria Grennan, Isabella “Pupa” Losito and Anna Iannone. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Marina, Carmen and Madeline.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 10, from 9:30-11 a.m. at the D'esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church of Christ the King Parish, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfie­ld. The entombment will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Donations in Lucia's memory may be made to the Connecticu­t Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
