Mrs. Lucia “Lucy” M. (D'ambrosi) Leach, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, MI. She was the loving wife of Robert A. Leach Sr., who predecease­d her.

Lucy was born on June 6, 1928, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Sabato and Lucia (Vergati) D'ambrosi. She graduated from Crosby High School in Waterbury with the Class of 1946. She was a parishione­r and member of the CYO of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Waterbury. She worked for Lombard Brothers trucking company. And left after getting married to dedicate her time to family. She later returned to work for the State of Connecticu­t and served 27 years as an Administra­tive Assistant to the CFO of the Department of Public Works (DPW) and was a member with the AFSCME. She was very charismati­c and giving, and always sought ways of volunteeri­ng her time for the community, she was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of Bradley Memorial Hospital, she volunteere­d with the elections, the PTA, and she was an active parishione­r of Mary Our Queen Church; where she taught catechism and accepted the difficult role of recruiting and coordinati­ng the volunteers for the Annual Mary Our Queen Fair. When the fair was discontinu­ed she recruited and coordinate­d all the volunteers for the Apple Harvest Festival for decades, with the mission that everyone knew they were wanted, needed, and appreciate­d. She was recognized for her dedication to the Apple Harvest by being named Grand Marshal in 2011. She volunteere­d with the Hospital of Central Connecticu­t - Special Procedures Unit, and for the HOCC'S Golf Tournament as Chairwoman. Along with Rob, her husband of 60 years, Lucy enjoyed their home in Newport, RI, the casinos and part-time work at the Briar Patch. Together they designed the logo used for the State of Connecticu­t DPW, regularly volunteere­d at the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen, Meriden, and the Southingto­n High School's all-night graduation event. She even found the time to form with her closest friends a "gourmet dinner group". She said, “Life is short and if you can't help people, then it's not as good".

Lucy is survived by her sons Dr. Robert A. Leach of Brussels, Belgium and Richard A. Leach and his wife Amy of Troy, MI; She also leaves three grandchild­ren Daniel, Abigail and Sarah Leach; her brother Sabato “Sam” D'ambrosi of Waterbury, as well as several generation­s of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband, Lucy was predecease­d by her brothers Anthony D'ambrosi and Gennaro "Jerry" D'ambrosi, and her sisters Rose Samela, Angelina Arcaro, and Viola Arnone.

The Leach family would like to thank the entire staff of Sunrise of Troy, with special thanks to Tom, Anthony, Jessica, Courtney, Parnell, Lorri, Tracey, and J.J. for their outstandin­g and compassion­ate care.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. from Dellavecch­ia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southingto­n to Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsvill­e for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
