Marguerite M. (Monastero) Gibbon, 95, of Newington, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Edward A. Gibbon for 51 years before his passing in 2004. Marguerite was born in Manhattan, NY on August 4, 1928, daughter of the late Bernardo and Pasqua (Crocitto) Monastero. She has lived in Newington since 1961 and has been a faithful communican­t of Annunciati­on Parish. Her faith was paramount to her and she lived it. In her younger years she worked as the Executive Assistant to the President of Mccrory Stores in NY where she became very proficient in shorthand, she later went on to retire as a medical secretary from the V.A. in Newington where she worked diligently for many years. Most importantl­y, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, aunt, and friend. Marguerite was a kind and compassion­ate soul who took great joy in gathering with family and friends and took pleasure in life's simple gifts. She was a loyal and loving friend and brought much happiness and wonderful memories to the many people she loved over the years.

In her free time, Marguerite was an avid reader and she loved music, movies, and her favorite television shows. She always looked forward to the luncheons shared with her retired friends from the V.A, her frequent and long phone conversati­ons with Patrice and Claire, and her Sunday visits with Carol.

Marguerite is survived by her son Edward A. Gibbon, Jr. and his wife Susan; her cherished grandson Edward Gibbon, III with whom she shared a beautiful bond; her beloved niece Patrice Marino and her husband Frank; many cousins; and extended family Carol Jordan and Michael, Anna, and Stephanie Kubish. She will also be missed by her faithful companion, her German Shepard Delilah. Along with her husband, Edward, she was predecease­d by her daughter Diane Mary Gibbon and her brother Frank J. Monastero. Marguerite leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and kindness in the hearts of those she touched in this life.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marguerite's family on Thursday, April 11th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Her funeral service will begin on Friday, April 12th at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington.
