Ronald Albert Pfeffer, 70 years young, of Fernandina Beach, FL, died peacefully on April 10, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Ron inspired many with his positivity, unwavering faith, and wit.

Ron was born on December 1, 1953 in Manhattan, to Hope and Leo Pfeffer. He grew up in Norwalk, CT and began his love of nature as a camper and staff member at Camp Hazen in Chester, CT. Ron graduated from The University of Connecticu­t and was a life-long learner, continuing on to get his MBA from University of Hartford, and a Master's in Educationa­l Technology from Central Connecticu­t State University. Ron had a diverse career including time as a teacher, environmen­talist, and IT profession­al.

Ron is survived by his wife, Janet Martin Pfeffer, three children and their spouses, Carolyn Pfeffer and Dave Gamble of West Hartford, CT, Allison Pfeffer and Dwight Henderson of Wethersfie­ld, CT, and Joseph Pfeffer and Caitlin Szabo of Atlanta, GA, and his brother Paul Pfeffer (Nyomi) of Stratford, CT. He was a beloved Papa to Molly and Connor Gamble. His stories will forever be told to his future grandchild­ren. He was loved and will be deeply missed by his extended family and a wide circle of close friends.

Ron had a passion for life and was known for his many hobbies and interests. He loved the game of golf, birdwatchi­ng, cheering on the Uconn Huskies and Clemson Tigers, and traveling with family and friends. Ron earned his certificat­ion as a Florida Master Naturalist, was a volunteer with the North Florida Land Trust, and was the President of the Friends of Talbot Islands State Parks. He cared deeply about preserving nature's beauty and especially loved bringing people to Spoonbill Pond on Big Talbot Island, Florida. In the North Carolina mountains, he enjoyed hiking, tracking the Eastern bluebirds in the yard, and savoring local BBQ.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM, at Memorial United Methodist Church, 601 Centre Street, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. The family requests attendees to wear celebrator­y colors. In lieu of flowers, Ron requested that donations be made to support brain cancer research at Mayo Clinic's Jacksonvil­le campus.
