Elizabeth “Betty” Rae was a loving partner, mother, grandmothe­r, and friend. She passed away peacefully in the early morning of April 11th, 2024, at 90 years old. Betty was a longtime resident of the Shoreline who loved the ocean and her small-town community. Betty was an only child born to Louis and Elizabeth Mary (O'leary) Meyer on November 12, 1933, and she was the apple of her daddy's eye.

Betty was pre-deceased by her three sons, Edward, James, and Patrick. She is survived by her son Timothy and her youngest child and cherished daughter Cheryl. Betty also leaves behind a legacy of 16 grandchild­ren and 22 great-grandchild­ren, along with the many extended family and friends that she loved dearly.

Betty's true passion in life was family and her legacy was built through guiding, teaching, and leading her family with a strong will and a larger-than-life personalit­y. Betty spent time with friends at her church, The First Congregati­onal Church of Westbrook. Her faith was as strong as her desire to give, she never wanted anyone to go without.

Betty will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Park Cemetery alongside her husband, James R. Rae in Springfiel­d, Massachuse­tts.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbroo­k. Her Celebratio­n of Life Service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Contributi­ons in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Associatio­n, 225 N.
