Matthew Richard Griffin, 29, passed away on April 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Avon, CT, Matthew was a graduate of Avon High School where he was an honors student and scholar athlete. He later attended Providence College, where he graduated magna cum-laude in 2017. He was a proud alumnus of Providence College, where he made lifelong friendships and cherished memories. Following college, he was fortunate to have worked for Strategic Benefit Advisors in Southborough, MA. Matthew enjoyed playing soccer, baseball and had a gift for running. He was an avid Boston Sports fan. He approached every challenge with determination and grace, inspiring everyone around him with his strong faith.
Matthew was the cherished husband of Abigail (Northgraves) Griffin, they married on April 29, 2023, in Providence, RI, surrounded by many family and friends. Their love story became an inspiration to all who knew them. Abigail's love and unwavering support provided him with comfort during his most challenging moments. He was the beloved son of Richard H. Griffin Jr. and Susan (Walsh) Griffin of Avon, CT, who nurtured him with boundless love and encouragement. Matthew shared a deep bond with his brother, Stephen Griffin of Boston, MA, his sister and brother-in-law, Ashley and John Barrick, and niece and goddaughter, Lucy Barrick, of Scituate, MA. In addition, Matthew leaves behind his paternal grandmother Elinor Griffin of Avon, CT, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard H. Griffin, and maternal grandparents Richard J. and Eugenia Walsh of West Hartford, CT, whose memory he held close to his heart.
Matthew's infectious smile, kind heart, and unwavering courage will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he may be gone, his legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

His family will receive friends Thursday, April 25th from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Matthew's life will be held on Friday, April 26th directly at 1:00 pm at Church of St. Ann, 289 Arch Road Avon, CT.
