Eve Kommel’s accomplishments in life were many. After escaping Nazi Germany in 1939, she went on to marry, raise 3 children, earn degrees from WSU and U of M, teach at WSU, manage her husband’s medical practice, co-skipper 20+ Port Huron/Mackinac Races, become the first female Commodore of Great Lakes Yacht Club (and in the state of Michigan), become President of Planned Parenthood of Southeast Michigan and Southwest Florida, become President of Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Sarasota and so, so much more.
