SARASOTA - Beatrice Wood Brown passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, at Alderman Oaks in Sarasota, FL. Bea was a very special, lovely lady who was born on October 21, 1922, to William and Margaret Brown in Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tozier Brown, her parents and brother William ‘Billy’ Brown. She is survived by her niece Claudia Ney and husband Tom, nephew Christophe­r Brown and step-children Edward ‘Ted’ Brown, Sharon Dogruel, Kaye Cartmill and husband Matt, and Lianne Brown.

Following her retirement from profession­al administra­tive work in New York City, she and Tozier lived in Medford Lakes, New Jersey leaving in 1980 to move permanentl­y to Sarasota Florida. There she enjoyed music, the arts and helping others through support for the needy, particular­ly children. As an active member of the Church of the Redeemer, she regularly participat­ed in community activities and made many devoted friends throughout Sarasota. She loved spending time with Sophie, Edith, Kathleen, Donna and many others. Irina and Dale and Carmen were very close, brightenin­g her days and sharing laughter through countless good times.

All who knew Bea would tell you she was a very ‘classy’ lady, beautiful, kind and loving. Dignity was her nature drawing others to share in her appreciati­on of the beauty of life and friends. Bea loved the joy of holidays, song and the happiness of others. She will be deeply missed by countless people who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on April 26 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Redeemer. Toale Brothers Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236.
