Open shelves

given that they’re the hosts of HGTV’s Fixer to Fabulous, Jenny and Dave Marrs know how to create beautiful kitchens: It’s their job! For their own, they also wanted to make sure it was welcoming and family-centric, and suited the 118-yearold farmhouse on the outskirts of Bentonville, AR. Cabinets by Morgan Millworks (painted Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore) boast classic good looks, a quartzite backsplash and countertops are perpetually stylish, and new white oak floors seem like they were always there. The 3-foot-by-9-foot maple trestle table and bench, built by Dave, “is the center of our house,” says Jenny. “Someone is always doing homework at it, snacking, coloring, or, this time of year, wrapping presents!”

Three-inchthick white oak ones hold a mix of dishes and cutting boards, both vintage and Dave-made. “Doing shelves instead of upper cabinets helps the room breathe, and we get to decorate them for the holidays,” says Jenny.
