Extending Life

-

Proper care and storage of row cover material and supplies will go a long way to keeping them in use for a number of years. Try to avoid tearing them. Doubling the edges over before placing the earth staples through them helps avoid tears caused by the pins. If spun-bonded row cover is torn, it can be sewn.

After using the row covers for the season, shake them out and dry in the sun. When dry you can fold or roll them up and place them in large garbage bags labeled with the content and approximate length. Hang the bags on hooks in a dry shed where rodents won’t be able to burrow into them and use them for nest material. Anchor pins and metal hoops can be stored in a dry shed.
