Finding Fault

- — Roger Sipe, Editor

In the Wild Food Farmer column in the January/ February 2021 issue, the editors incorrectly identified the southern Tuscany region as being in France, when the author clearing intended it to be Italy.

Also, the caption on page 58 should have pointed out hedgehogs fruit late in the mushroom season “in parts of California,” as the original caption contradicts what the author correctly wrote in the column: “Foragers in the Rockies may find them in fall. In areas with mild seasons like the West Coast, they run through fall and winter. East of the Rockies, they start fruiting in late summer and can keep showing up into early winter. But even in the frosty Northeast, foragers may find them in December.”

These two mistakes fall solely at the feet of the editors, not the author and forager Frank Hyman. We apologize for the errors, and we’ll make sure Frank has final say on all edits before press in the future!
