Kalani tops Se­abury in OT, faces St. Fran­cis for D-II ti­tle

The Kalani Fal­cons couldn’t miss in over­time — hit­ting a trey and all 10 free throws — in de­feat­ing the Se­abury Hall Spar­tans 56-46 in a state boys basketball Divi­sion II semi­fi­nal at Kalani gym on Thurs­day.

Trey Su­mida, who scored a team-high 17 points, in­clud­ing four 3-point­ers, opened the ex­tra pe­riod with two free throws. He then hit a 3 for a 48-43 lead. From there, it was a pa­rade to the char­ity stripe for the Fal­cons. Micah Kawano went 6-for-6 and Toby Mitchell 2-for-2 to close out the vic­tory.

Peter Kono­hia had 13 points to lead Se­abury Hall. Cameron Hanisch’s 3-pointer with 1:20 left in reg­u­la­tion tied the score at 43 and sent the game into over­time.

Kalani faces St. Fran­cis for the D-II ti­tle at 5 p.m. to­day at the Stan Sher­iff Cen­ter.

St. Fran­cis 78, Honokaa 50

Kameron Ng scored a game-high 24 points, and added six as­sists and six steals, lead­ing the Saints over the Dragons and into the Divi­sion II cham­pi­onship.

St. Fran­cis was hot from long range, knock­ing down 10 of 18 3-point­ers.
