UH women lead MPSF swimming meet
The University of Hawaii women’s swimming and diving team set two meet records and leads after the second day of the MPSF Championships on Thursday at Monterey Park, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine’s Bryndis Hansen set a record in the 50 freestyle (22.38 seconds) and Franzi Weidner established a mark in the 200 individual medley (1:56.32). Hawaii leads the seven-team competition with 272 points. UC Santa Barbara is second with 208.
Also winning for the Rainbow Wahine on Thursday were Monica Gavaris in 1-meter diving (283.85 points) and the 200 freestyle relay team (1:30.75).
The Hawaii men are second among five teams with 229 points. UC Santa Barbara leads with 273.
The Rainbow Warriors’ Metin Aydin won the 200 individual medley (1:44.66) on Thursday.
