UH women lead MPSF swim­ming meet

The Univer­sity of Hawaii women’s swim­ming and div­ing team set two meet records and leads after the se­cond day of the MPSF Cham­pi­onships on Thurs­day at Mon­terey Park, Calif.

The Rain­bow Wahine’s Bryn­dis Hansen set a record in the 50 freestyle (22.38 sec­onds) and Franzi Wei­d­ner es­tab­lished a mark in the 200 in­di­vid­ual medley (1:56.32). Hawaii leads the seven-team com­pe­ti­tion with 272 points. UC Santa Bar­bara is se­cond with 208.

Also win­ning for the Rain­bow Wahine on Thurs­day were Mon­ica Gavaris in 1-me­ter div­ing (283.85 points) and the 200 freestyle re­lay team (1:30.75).

The Hawaii men are se­cond among five teams with 229 points. UC Santa Bar­bara leads with 273.

The Rain­bow War­riors’ Metin Ay­din won the 200 in­di­vid­ual medley (1:44.66) on Thurs­day.
