- Happy riding,

As we turn over the calendar into a new year, it’s time to evaluate where everything stands. Do you feel like you’re in a stressed-out scramble all the time? I know I can fall into this trap sometimes. Have you been dreaming of that bucketlist riding vacation and think now might be the time to throw care to the wind and go on it?

If so, this issue is for you! Don’t miss photojournalist Shawn Hamilton’s excellent advice for selecting YOUR perfect equestrian trip—not anyone else’s (pg. 34). We’ve also got some fabulous core-strengthening exercises that are bound to come in handy after all of the holiday treats have settled onto the waistline (pg. 12). There’s also Kristina Lotz’s simple list of very doable ways to carve out more minutes from your time at the barn so your equine partner gets the care and training he deserves (pg. 44).

Right now, my horse Artie is enjoying a new rider for a few more months until my baby gets here and we have a chance to settle into a routine again. Until then, I am looking forward to 2020 and thinking of lots of amazing things I want to accomplish and how to still have fun and enjoy the horse life!
