Wooden Hot Rods
Here’s something a little different for your shelves, or for the kids and/or grandkids. Candylab Toys, founded by architect Vlad Dragusin, are intended to “revive the glamorous ’60s American modernist vibe and carve it into awesome contemporary wood toy designs,” says the company. So the “Penicillin” roadster, “Southern Belle” coupe, and “Harlequin” sedan aren’t meticulous replicas of vintage hot rods but instead are more an evocation of their shapes, colors, and general style, made from real wood and about the size of a 1:24-scale die-cast. Candylab’s offerings also include muscle cars, woodie station wagons, and even trailers to tow behind them.
