In the 1940s, Dave Burns of Huntington Park, California, was a speed equipment pioneer, casting parts for Ford Model A and Model B engines that were popular in his day and are still in high demand today. These early speed parts are available once again through John Freeman’s New England–based Burns Racing Equipment. The fully finned Model A side cover (bottom) sets off the looks of the engine, either alone or accompanied by a Burns intake setup. The finned Model B cover (top) incorporates three cast-in bosses at the oil galley that may be drilled if the owner chooses oil pressure modifications or custom oil lines or gauges. Both covers are made from 319 aluminum and are shotpeened for a consistent finish and ease of cleaning.
