I was honored to see my Bucky Hess Vicky in the last issue [“Mini Vicky,” Scrapbook, May 2019]. I was happy to see four gassers made it into that magazine, too. I hope that you do not get inundated with model pictures now after including the Vicky pictures.
Here are some pictures of a model of Harry Luzader’s gasser that I built several years ago. I did get to show it to Harry at a Pittsburgh International Dragway reunion dinner. He was quite surprised at the accuracy and its having a good color match. I had seen the coupe many times while it was still a street machine parked in front of his parent’s motel in Monroeville. I saw it race in 1965 at PID. It was thrilling to see it lift the front wheels at the launch and then on each shift. Fortunately, there were a number of photos from magazine articles and on the internet to help with the build. As with a lot of race cars that are always changing, I had to pick a particular look that I wanted to duplicate.
