Fair Weather Roadster

Hot Rod Deluxe - - Scrapbook - John Dixon

I bought my first hot rod in 1959, a ’34 Plymouth. When I got a chance to buy the roadster in 1974, unfortunately Washington State was enforcing “fair weather laws,” where you had to have fenders, road clearance heights, and other restrictions. The laws were changed, and I now own several fenderless cars.

I believe the car originally came out of the San Francisco area. I have been able to trace some of its history to drag racing in the early 1950s. Previous owners: 1955, Bob Tomey, Yakima; 1955-1959, Keith Clark, Yakima; 1959-1967, Thomas Bolin, Yakima; 1967-1968, Richard White, Gig Harbor; 1969-1974, Bill Conwell, Lacey; 1974-present, John and Linda Dixon, Lacey.
