Record- breaking leg: Matt Hogan’s six field goals broke the UH single- game record previously held by Mike Clendenen, who had five against Texas Tech on Nov. 19, 1983. The previous C- USA record was five, held by 11 different players. Putting on the pressure: The season- high eight sacks were the most by the UH defense in a game since the unit recorded nine in a 56- 3 win over East Carolina on Oct. 8, 2011. Sims hits 100again: Charles Sims became the first UH running back to rush for at least 100 yards in three straight games since Bryce Beall in 2008. Injuries: Defensive end Zeke Riser and free safety Trevon Stewart left the game with injuries and did not return.

Tulane 27, SMU 26 — Ryan Griffin returned from a shoulder injury to throw for 302 yards and three touchdowns as Tulane beat SMU in NewOrleans. Griffin, whomissed the last three games, completed 17 of 32 passes and threw touchdown passes of 31, 79 and 16 yards for the Green Wave.

TheMustang­s scored20 consecutiv­e points behind two Chase Hover field goals and two Garrett Gilbert touchdowns. Griffin threw the final touchdown, a 16- yard strike that put Tulane ahead.

East Carolina 41, Memphis 7— Shane Carden tossed five touchdowns and threwfor 308 yards as the Pirates trounced the visiting Tigers 41- 7. Carden was 16- of- 21 for 245 yards with two passing scores in the first half.

Justin Hardywas Carden’s favorite target, pulling in five passes for 126 yards and a score in the first half. Hardy caught just one ball in the second half— an 11- yard TD.
