HRP fall event takes lead with panel of industry specialists
Houston Relocation Professionals recently held its fall event at Houston Country Club, entitled, “Leadership in the Relocation Industry: Now and Into the Future.” Relocation professionals throughout the Houston area, from around the state, as well as other parts of the country, attended.
Peggy Smith, SCRP, SGMS, president and CEO ofWorldwide ERC, and a panel of leaders from four relocation management companies discussed personal and professional leadership experiences, and the challenges they have faced.
Smith moderated the panel of industry specialists, including Bill Graebel, CEO of Graebel Cos. Inc.; Kate Dodge, president of NEI Global Relocation; Aram Minnetian, president ofWeichert Relocation Services Inc.; and Rick Schwartz, president of Brookfield Global Relocation Services.
The morning was kicked off by Smith, who presented an overview of leadership styles and the qualities that make a good leader.
Smith posed several questions to the panelists regarding leadership styles and the ways they run their organizations. Although all of the panelists represented leadership from different companies, and each conveyed a somewhat different leadership style, there were some very common themes.
Each spoke to the value of mentorship, as a mentor and as a mentee at all stages of their careers. They each shared their insights on leadership and the experiences that have helped shape each of their professional leadership styles.
They also spoke about the relationships that they have with their employees, and the importance of listening to them and helping them achieve balance, while working towards common financial and organizational goals.
HRP’s 2012 Board of Directors President, Norma Chaney, said, “All- in- all, it was a very successful HRP event, with a record number of people registered and in attendance. We were very proud to have put together such a wonderful panel of relocation industry experts, in keeping with our mission: HRP engages, educates, and unifies mobility professionals in the Houston area.” Further details
