Parents sue after son mistakenly declared dead

-

The parents of an 8- year- old boy have sued a Chicago hospital, alleging doctors pronounced their son dead though hewas still alive.

The lawsuit, filed last week, accusesMercyHospital andMedical Center of negligence.

It says doctors refused to listen to relatives of Jaylen Dorseywhen they insisted the Chicago boy’s eyes and bodywere still moving.

The suit says nearly five hours passed before staff agreed to perform a cardiac ultrasound that showed Jaylen’s heartwas beating.

Jaylenwas taken to MercyHospital in February after his parents found him unresponsive.

Hospital officials deny the allegations. They say Jaylen suffered full cardiac arrest and doctors treated him for “an extended period of time” before declaring him dead.

For years, some historians and other scholars said Drake landed on the Point Reyes Peninsula, north of San Francisco, in Marin County. But others pointed to what they considered evidence that Drake landed in locations ranging from San Francisco Bay to Alaska, Oregon, British Columbia or other sites along the California coast.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar apparently ended the controversy this week when he designated the Drake site as Point Reyes inMarin County, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday.
